Welcome Party
If you were a new student at AIT, you would have several parties to welcome you in the beginning of semester. Normally, new students would have 3 Welcome Parties: party held by Student Union, Program/Field of Study and Country Association. If you join a religious association, then you would have another. Interesting na?
And if we look to the whole semester, number of party would be doubled. Because, at the end of terms people tend to held a farewell party also. It haven't count the party that is organized by Student Union/other association during the term, let's say.. midterm party, new year party, valentine party, etc. Party, party, party!
But, don't think with this numbers of party will make most of students to be party-lovers! No, because not all of students enjoy those party. Either it's because of their working-hard style so they don't have time for partying (this is the majority)
or the party itself is un-interesting. Yeah.. there're boring party which are more proper to be called as 'dinner invitation'. You just come, eat, and go home :)
Last friday, I had this party in The Cafe inside Campus which was held to welcome new students of our Program (Water Engineering Management). It's quite weird, because actually now we're already in the middle of semester, then these new students has been busy with assignments and exams. So, how come it's still called a Welcome Party? :)
Anyway, the party was great. Even I could see that most of new students were difficult to enjoy the party because their mind was occupied with exams and assignments. The party was started with a warm welcome from MCs (Leena and Sanggam) and WEM Program Coordinator: Prof. Das Gupta. Then there was introduction session, starting from Dr. Dushmanta Dutta who is a new faculty in our Program, then following with introduction from all faculties, staffs, doctoral students, senior students and finally new students. The introduction session was doing together with dinner, then after it finished most of everybody was full also :) and ready for the game.
1st game was Dancing Chair game. The faculties were joining that game also. Which, sometime, make an awkward situation for some friends who reach the sama chair with one faculty :) And like our Asian style, they just give the chair to faculty.
2nd game was called Dancing Paper game. One group consist of 3 persons that should share 1 paper, when the music was on they dance around the paper, and when the music was stop they should be inside the paper. Then the music started again, but now the paper was folded so the area only half than before.. it made the group find some difficulties while the music was stop and they should hang on smaller paper. The guy who joined the same group with girls, should be happy with this game :)
Then, free time.. some students play darts and pool while the DJ play some loud music :) It's time for dancing now. Because most of people are already getting drunk --except me, of course :)--.. then it didn't take so much time to make a dancing circle.
We were so happy and had a lot of laughs.. It was amazing, considering we almost never be this close and happy in our routine in School. Sometimes no say "Hi!" either. Especially with the staffs who always busy with their works. Yeah, beer.. it's not only helping ugly people have sex since 1862 but it's also bound our relation in a short time :)
Great party guys!
